According to the reports from the ground, it could be a couple of days before the guns become silent.

It was a very happy moment to hear that the war in Sri Lanka was over and that the entire tiger terrorist leadership has been eliminated. The guns are being silenced.

Even thousands of miles apart, I can feel the calmness and relief of a country that had been a victim of ruthless terrorism for three decades. I can also feel the true happiness of the people who live and love this great island. Yes - this is something to celebrate - celebrations of freedom.
